Happiness is relative. There are a few universal ways to try and increase one’s happiness inside the workplace. At DataTech we strive to make our business community as happy as we can. We have learned a few tricks that improve the happiness of office space. Here are just a few.
Currently unhappy? You need to change something. For us, we find that a change in our morning routine is a big factor in our overall happiness at work. If you aren’t a morning person than it may be time to change your habits or your working hours. Things that work for us are: exercising in the morning and healthy breakfast. If you are a night owl, try to move your hours back, and don’t stress, there is no “right” time to work.
Imagine how boring your life would be if you have nothing to do all day. Same goes for working all day, it’s going to get really boring. Let’s change this up, try to create a better work-life balance. You need time for yourself and your friends. If you are having trouble, join a group or activity to get you out of the office.
We cannot tell you how annoying it is to work in a place you physically hate. If you are an entrepreneur or business owner and hate your current setup, it’s really hard to want to come to work each day. Make sure you love the place you come to each day. If you start the day dreading where you work you won’t ever be happy. We hear our business community loves our office spaces.
Somethings in your day to day like are simply unchangeable. If you can’t do anything about it, forget it. By stressing over these things and small things you will find yourself unhappier and unhappier each day. Learn to let go, yoga and meditation are great ways to de-stress after each day.
If you think that happiness will come to you fast, think again. Happiness is a process and never will be a perpetual state of being. You cannot be happy all the time, but you can increase the average happiness of your day to day work life. After all, what is life besides the pursuit of happiness?
