Hilbre Home Support Services

“Determined to make a difference in Vancouver Island’s aging population by allowing seniors to remain at home with adequate care and safety.”

Melissa Moloney is a 30-year-old experienced Health Care Professional who left her home town of Melbourne, Australia behind in 2013 to visit her Aunt and Uncle on Vancouver Island. Four years later, she has officially immigrated to Victoria and has returned to Australia once for a visit. Her Australian career began at the age of 14, where she washed dishes at a long-term care facility every day after school. From there, she graduated high school and moved up the ladder, primarily working in long term care facilities for the bulk of her career.

Melissa states her passion for allowing seniors to remain at home began after seeing the direct effect of being placed at care facilities had on not only seniors, but also their family members. Although acknowledging that at times there is no other choice either for health or financial reasons, if she can somehow contribute to the industry and assist with keeping people in the comfort of their own homes with the support of care workers, that is what she aspires to work towards.

In her four years living in Victoria, Melissa has made significant connections in the community, starting with employment at Beacon Community Services, followed by Private Care. She has also volunteered with local community groups, examined research current trends and statistics regarding seniors and care options available, in efforts to assure the best quality of her services.

On March 15, 2017, Hilbre Home Support office officially opened and was ready to take on the task of improving quality of life and care for seniors in Victoria. Hilbre is a full-service agency offering everything from basic daily needs, such as personal care assistance, medication administration, meal preparation, and housekeeping, to complex health related needs, like ostomy and catheter care, wound care, and vital sign recording and management. Every client receives an initial home visit where a plan of care and service is developed by a home care professional in consultation with the client and family members to assure the proper care routines and needs, specific to each client.

There is no minimum service requirement for Hilbre Home Support Services. Times can range from 1 to 24 hour care, either on a short term or an ongoing schedule, depending on the clients’ needs. Hilbre is unique in offering an on-call service 24/7, which provides a great resource for clients, especially to those who have presented to an emergency room stable enough for discharge but may be at risk in being alone at home until a recovery is made. Hilbre is there to assist you and your family, and ensure that your safety needs are satisfactorily met. In as little as an hour, Hilbre can have you back home and settled where your recovery can begin in comfort with a reliable, knowledgeable care aid. Rates are affordable and competitive.
