10 Chores in 10 Minutes

1. Change Toilet Paper

Pop into the bathrooms around the house and change any low or empty toilet paper rolls. Don’t throw out any low rolls, just place them on top of the new ones so people use the last little bit first.

2. Turn Mattresses

You should be rotating your mattresses at least every 6 months. This helps them to wear evenly and stops any odd lumps from forming. This is especially important if your mattress has springs.

3. Declutter Spare Room

Have a spare room that’s become a storage closet? Grab the items that don’t belonging and clear them out. Find a better storage place for them.

4. Empty Vacuums

Get that vacuum cleaned out. It’s something that we forget to do, but keeping the vacuum bag empty will allow for better airflow and suction. It will also reduce any allergens inside your home.

5. Clean Fridge Shelf

Choose one shelf in the fridge that needs a good cleaning. Remove the items, grab a damp rag, and wipe the shelf down. When putting the items back, throw away any expired or empty ones.

6. Check Smoke Alarms

One of the best ways to protect yourself and your family is to have smoke alarms working properly. Check each one but pressing the “test” button, making sure the sound is loud. If it’s weak, replace the batteries.

7. Check Fire Extinguishers

Something that people often forget is that fire extinguishers expire. Go around and check the dates on all your fire extinguishers. If they are expired, you can take them to your local fire department, and they will dispose of them.

8. Clean Fans

Your ceiling fans are often very dirty on top of the blades. Grab a duster or damp rag and give the blades a good cleaning.

9. Change Filters

Make sure to change the filters on your homes’ furnace/heating unit. These can become very dirty and ineffective, replacing them allows for better quality air inside your home.

10. Garbage Disposal

Cleaning your garbage disposal is an important thing that should happen before you start to smell something. Either remove the unit or toss some ice cubes in and turn it on.
